My brother Mike had been estranged from our family for many years, so it was difficult to know what he would have wanted. In the end I, my brother Jon and Mike’s close friends decided that a very basic cremation service was all that was required. We would have a wake and a scattering of his ashes as ‘the special time’ rather than a religious service and traditional funeral.
